International Accreditation Forum

The International Accreditation Forum is the association of accreditation bodies whose mutual recognition makes accredited ISO certificates valid worldwide.

Also called IAF, IAF CertSearch

Members such as Swedac, UKAS, DAkkS and ANAB sign a multilateral recognition arrangement, under which a certificate issued by a body accredited in one country is treated as equivalent elsewhere. The IAF also runs IAF CertSearch, a database for checking whether an ISO management system certificate is accredited and current.

Listing in CertSearch is voluntary for certification bodies and their clients, so a certificate that is not found there is not necessarily fake; ask the certification body to confirm it instead. See accreditation body.
