Vanta and Secureframe cover much the same ground — SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, NIS2, DORA, the EU AI Act, ISO 42001 and FedRAMP are on both lists — and both put one framework on the entry tier. The practical differences are commercial and regional: Secureframe publishes a starting price for its entry tier where Vanta publishes none, Secureframe sells a dedicated CMMC tier, and for European hosting Vanta offers Frankfurt on request while Secureframe offers London, in the UK.

What Vanta says it does

Vanta describes itself as one automated platform bringing together compliance, risk and customer trust, and states coverage of SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA and 35+ frameworks. Its framework list includes NIS 2, DORA, GDPR, the EU AI Act and ISO 42001 alongside US government frameworks such as FedRAMP and CMMC.

Pricing is not published. Vanta sells four tiers — Essentials, Plus, Professional and Enterprise — with Essentials covering one compliance framework. Professional services are not part of the subscription; an auditor bundle is available separately. An EU region in Frankfurt exists, but tenants default to the US region unless an EU tenant is requested.

What Secureframe says it does

Secureframe describes compliance, risk and trust automation backed by in-house compliance experts. It lists named frameworks rather than a total, including SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, NIS2, DORA, the EU AI Act, ISO 42001, HIPAA and FedRAMP, plus custom frameworks.

Secureframe publishes a starting price for its Fundamentals tier and quotes Complete and Defense, a CMMC-focused tier. Each tier includes one framework, with more available to add. Audits run through its Audit Partner Network. Customers choose AWS US East or AWS London for hosting, with further European regions described as coming soon.

Choose Secureframe when

You want a published starting price to budget against, are pursuing CMMC and want a tier built for it, or are content with UK hosting for European data.

The third option

When neither is the right fit

Noru is built in Stockholm for companies whose obligations are European as much as they are SOC 2: GDPR records of processing, NIS2, DORA and the EU AI Act alongside ISO 27001, run from one control library across 30+ frameworks. EU data residency is the default for every customer rather than a region you request — AI inference is the one activity that may leave the EEA, and it runs under EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

Its sharpest difference from all three is privacy operations: Article 30 records and a data map derived from source code and CI, so the register changes when the systems do. If your shortlist is a choice between two US-built security compliance platforms and privacy sits on your desk too, Noru is worth one demo. If you need CMMC, it is not the right tool: CMMC is not in Noru's framework catalogue.

Which has EU data hosting, Vanta or Secureframe?

Vanta runs an EU region in Frankfurt, applied when an EU tenant is requested. Secureframe offers AWS US East or AWS London; London is in the UK rather than the EU, and Secureframe describes further European regions as coming soon.

Which is better for CMMC or FedRAMP?

Both list FedRAMP and CMMC. Secureframe sells a Defense tier built for CMMC, with SPRS score tracking, SSP and POA&M and a managed CUI enclave.

Do Vanta or Secureframe include the audit?

Neither includes it by default. Vanta's terms exclude professional services and offer an optional auditor bundle; Secureframe gives access to its Audit Partner Network and says the cost depends on the auditor.

Do they train AI on our compliance data?
